Akkerboom Farm | Op de Tradouw | Route 62 | South Africa |

 |

Akkerboom Country Cottages comprises six self catering cottages nestled along a stream between the Langeberg Mountains and the Little Karoo on a working fruit farm. The cottages offer an ideal family holiday venue two and a half hours from Cape Town where children can play in a stream below 300 year old oak trees. The farm lies 38km from Montagu at the top of the Op de Tradouw pass between Montagu and Barrydale on Route 62 and offers stunning views along the Langeberg. We farm apples, pears and plums which are packed on the farm at Tradouw Fruit Packers.

Each cottage comprises en suite bedrooms in Cape cottage style with dakriet ceilings, kaggels and tiled floors with private braai facilities. Cottages are screened by indigenous shrubs with stunning views down the Tradouw Valley and onto the orchards and mountains.

Akkerboom Country Cottages provides an ideal base from which to explore the attractions of the Little Karoo or simply the opportunity to relax and enjoy the silence. A 30 km hiking trail and mountain bike route runs along the river on the original road through the farm, past a magnificent waterfall and along the original trekker route through the area. Anything you have forgotten at home can be found at the Akkerboom Trading Post which also serves great lattes and local fare. Local fruit, wines and fruit juices are also available at cellar and farm prices. Taste hand made pure apple and pear Oaklands Fruit Juices made on the farm. |
