Ceres Cottage Accommodation - Die Kloofhuis - Breede River Valley, Western Cape

Ceres Farm Accommodation – Die Kloofhuis offers unique self catering accomodation in the Western Cape Breede River Valley, South Africa

Koelfontein is a 7th generation farm that has been in the Conradie family since 1832. Koelfontein is a working fruit farm that has won a myriad of awards for it’s fresh fruit, dried fruit and wines and now offers you the chance to come and experience the luxury of farm life in this exquisite part of the Western Cape.

Was once the wedding present for a daughter of the family and was nicknamed the “honeymoon cottage” since the sun comes up later here than anywhere else on the farm due to the rugged mountain ridges of the narrow valley that the cottage sits in.

A wonderful self-catering retreat from the hurry of city life for family or friends, Die Kloofhuis is a carefully restored historic building with foot-thick walls, thatch roofs and traditional stable-doors.

Beautiful old oak trees line a stoep and outside fire-place that has magnificent views down the kloof and across the farm and valley toward the town of Ceres and the Hex River mountains in the distance.

The cottage has a fully equipped farm kitchen including a fully functional hearth fire-place, as well as all the mod cons. The three bedrooms (one double, two twin), lounge and kitchen have been furnished in antique
farm-style furniture, and come with luxurious linen and soft furnishings.

The beautiful antique ball & claw bath provides a deep retreat in the bathroom, while a sheltered outside shower allows you to take in the fresh air and greenery of the peach orchard behind the house.

The lounge has a free-standing fireplace for chilly evenings, and the stoep boasts an 8-seater table as well as plenty of leisure seating around the fireplace for long evenings under the stars with special people.

Due to the fact that this is a historic building that has been preserved as far as possible, the main double bedroom is accessible only through one of the
twin bedrooms, and the second twin bedroom has patio access only. The bathroom is separate and accessible from anywherein the cottage.
