 the house has a generous open plan living area with a double volume ceiling and a large slate fireplace. there is a fully-equipped, modern kitchen and separate scullery. accommodation includes four bedrooms (two double beds, 4 single beds) two of which open onto the veranda with views. there are two bathrooms (shower and bath) and an outside shower. from the huge, covered veranda you can sit and stare at the gentle mountains we call the elephant hills (if you look carefully you can see a herd marching across the horizon) or you can wander down to the river for a swim or a canoe or take the path through the fynbos to the old town.

 stanford has the feel of an old western cape rural village with an air of tranquillity and simplicity about it, but there is a wide range of interesting and fun things to do. there are art, book, antique and junk shops and many coffee shops and restaurants (including the wonderful and highly rated mariana's owl house). in and around stanford there are fynbos hikes, horse rides, cycling routes, superb golf courses and good bird watching. the clean and beautiful river runs in front of the house and is perfect for swimming, kayaking and fishing. boat trips can be taken down the river at sunset. the safe surfing beaches and wonderful whale watching in hermanus are fifteen minutes drive away as is the world famous shark diving in gansbaai. the birkenhead brewery and the award-winning klein river cheese factory are worth a visit as are many of the local vineyards which are carving an excellent reputation for overberg region wines. |

 The fees are now R2000 a night ( minimum 2 night stay) , R2500 over Easter weekend and R3000 a night during the December holidays ( min 5 night stay)  a deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking, the balance is required a month before arrival. cancel on day of arrival, during the stay, no show - full payment due. cancel 14 days or less before arrival - half payment due. cancel 14 - 28 days before date of arrival - full deposit due. cancel 28 + days before date of arrival - full refund of deposit to you.
