Lilybank Cottage is situated in the very beautiful Elgin Fruit Valley, where apples and roses flourish. The cottage is set under some oak trees beside an attractive little river and is surrounded by majestic mountain views.

The cottage is cosily furnished with two double bedrooms, one en-suite, plus another bathroom, an open plan sitting room and kitchen that opens out onto a huge shady verandah, overlooking the garden and fields where horses, donkeys, guinea fowl, geese and many other birds abound.

We can provide a light self cook breakfast, which you can make and enjoy on the bamboo ceilinged verandah in summer. A lovely fireplace in the lounge creates a delightful “home from home” atmosphere during the winter, perfect for reading, relaxing, playing cards or scrabble.

Lilybank Cottage is ideal for families and children of all ages are welcome. It is alarmed and has plenty of safe parking under a carport. The cottage is fully equipped. There is a TV in the living room with full DSTV. The kitchen includes a full stove, microwave, toaster, kettle etc. There are laundry facilities with washing machine, iron and ironing board. There is also a Weber braai.

All bed linen and towels are provided. We also provide electric blankets for those chilly winter evenings. Shampoo and soap are provided in each of the bathrooms.

Just under an hour’s drive from Cape Town, one can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the country, with river and mountain walks and lazy days. Tour the biodiversity wine route and visit the Elgin country market, fynbos nurseries and local galleries or take a scenic drive over quiet
mountain passes.

Elgin has many of its own wine estates where one can taste fine local wines. There is also brandy tasting in the neighbourhood. For delicious meals, stop at one of the delightful farmstalls or restaurants. Bursting with colour, they stock the freshest fruit juices, home-made jams, breads and local farm produce. Some of the hotels and guest houses offer homemade country dinners, complimented by fine local wines - a truly relaxing country experience.
