Hermanus Holiday Accommodation – The Potting Shed Self Catering offers seaside apartment accomodation in the Western Cape Overberg, South Africa







Hear the ocean; see the ocean from one of our self catering units in a peaceful, sea facing, upmarket complex with 24 hour security.

This beautiful seaside town in the Western Cape is only an hour and a half away from Cape Town city center and 1 hour from the international airport.

Whale Rock Estate at Tobago Bay, Hermanus, has a stunning view of Walker Bay, where the Southern Right whales are often seen breaching and blowing along the rocky coast line only seconds from your door.		 Take a stroll along the walk way to the sea, approximately 90 meters from your patio.

Our family friendly apartments are identical in size but vary slightly in décor. All units have a double and twin bedded room, with sleeper couches in the lounge to accommodate up to six guests
in each unit....

Bed linen is provided.

Kitchens are fully equipped with a washing machine, microwave and fridge/ freezer, along with everyday utensils such as cutlery, crockery, braai tongs, iron and ironing board etc.


Breakfast can be arranged at our Guest House (The Potting Shed) in Albertyn Street, at an additional cost.
TV, DSTV (compact package), and a DVD player are provided in the lounge.
Panel heaters provide extra comfort for cold winter nights.





Play a game of squash in the court provided, or swim in the pool at the recreational area, where you have use of an outdoor brick built braai/bbq. Alternatively, braai/bbq with the weber provided in your stoep, in the privacy of your own apartment, whilst enjoying the sound of the crashing waves.

Situated just 1 km from the new harbour, it’s an ideal location to sample local fresh caught fish (and sushi) at one of the fabulous sea food restaurants. The apartments are 3 kms to the town centre and 5 kms to Hermanus Golf Course (27 holes).

Boat trips run daily, in season (from the harbour) for whale watching and sunset cruises – weather permitting.
Hermanus boasts of many things including a craft market, excellent restaurants,Fernkloof Nature Reserve which has a farmers market on Saturdays, Grotto Beach (voted one of the top 5 beaches in the Western Cape and awarded a blue flag).

Local activities can be arranged such as sea kayaking, whale boat and fishing trips, shark cage diving, bird watching, horse riding on the beach, beauty therapy, flights in light aircraft over Walker Bay, and paragliding. There are several award winning wine estates in the area, a brewery and cheese farm close by.

Annamarie and David offer a personal service to all guests, and are happy to offer advice and book any necessary excursions and restaurants as required.

Children of all ages are welcome, but we do have a strictly No smoking, No pets policy.

A 50% deposit is required to secure al bookings.

Each apartment ideally sleeps up to 4 people.
However, we can accommodate 6 guests (2 sleeper couches in lounge).
Rates are quoted based on up to 4 people sharing.

An additional R100 per person is charged for a 5th and 6th guest.

Full breakfast can be arranged at our Guest House for an additional charge of R55 per person a day.

Please note that public holidays & Whale Festival may be charged at a higher rate.



TO THE POTTING SHED SELF CATERING UNIT FROM CAPE TOWN

Please note check-in and key collection is from The Potting Shed Guest House in Albertyn Street.

Take the N2 from Cape Town, passing Sir Lowery Pass and continuing on until the turning for the R43 and Hermanus is reached.
Continue along the R43 for just over 27kms to the Hemel en Aarde craft village on the left hand side of the road, passing the turnings for Fisherhaven, Hawston, Vermont and Onrus on the way.
Continue past the Hemel en Aarde Craft Village (white buildings with green roofs on the left hand side of the road) and through the traffic robots/lights at the end of the craft village.
Approximately 1 km further on, look out for the Gateway Spar Centre on the right hand side of the road. (You will see Spar flags on flag poles) and the 24 hour Total Garage at the next set of traffic lights.
4 turnings past the Gateway centre, you will see the turning for Albertyn Street on the left hand side. There is a sign on Main Road, on the corner that says “The Potting Shed Guest House”. We are the third house in Albertyn Street on right hand side. There is a sign outside, and “pots” with flowers and plants etc in.
(On the Main Road on the right hand corner of Albertyn Street there is a “veternary surgery”).
