Cape Point Nature Reserve, 20 minutes drive. Popularly perceived as the junction of two of the earth’s most contrasting water masses.
Penguin colony at Boulders Beach, 10minutes drive. Nestled in a sheltered cove just south of Simon’s Town, Boulders has become World famous for its unique land based African penguin colony, and magnificent wind sheltered, safe beaches.
Historical Simon’s Town. 5 minutes drive. Tucked along the shore between the mountain and the sea, Simon’s Town has developed into a charming coastal town with many gracious buildings, hidden corners and cobbled streets to delight the explorer.
Outdoor activities. There is plenty to keep the adventurous happy: snorkelling at Long Beach, scuba diving in the many coves, deep sea fishing with experienced charter operators, and sea kayaking. The local country club offers golf, bowls and squash. For hikers the mountains above the town and in the Cape of Good Hope Reserve offer many enjoyable hiking trails.
Superb golf courses, 15 minutes drive. Cape Town is blessed with an abundance of excellent golf courses, from scenic 9 holes, classic 18 hole courses, to the more modern golf estates.
Kirstenbosch Gardens, 25 minutes drive, runs along the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. The outdoor summer concerts, where you con take a picnic and relax on the lawns are always a favourite, for locals and visitors alike.
Victoria & Albert Waterfront, 30 minutes drive. Live music in the open-air amphitheatre, buskers, entertainers keep the atmosphere lively. Cinemas, historic buildings, the Two Oceans Aquarium, boat trips, restaurants and over 240 retail outlets, will keep you entertained.
Table Mountain, 30 minutes drive. Table Mountain is over 1000 meters high and offers awesome views over Cape Town and its surroundings.
Wine farms and tastings, 30 minutes drive. South African wines rate among the best in the world. The Constantia and Stellenbosch winelands offer unrivalled beauty, with their historic buildings, majestic mountains, wine cellars and restaurants.
Whale watching in season, August to October. From the balcony! The arrival of the Southern Right Whales to calve during the months July to November offers visitors spectacular sightings. Boat trips from Simon’s Town jetty offer an alternative way to view these magnificent mammals.
