Muizenberg once was the most famous beach resort of the Cape, even though its fame has diminished somewhat, the beach is still the same and stretches as far as you can see (or walk). That's why it is a fine example for beautiful simplicity. And also with considerably warmer water than on the Atlantic side
of the peninsula.

Children can have great fun at the big pool with water slide, midget golf course, playing area on the beach edge in the village, but also the sea is very children friendly, because the water gets deeper only very gradually.

The Lagoon (Vlei) is right on the doorstep of Sonstraal Guesthouse, with its many bird species (like Kingfishers and the African Fish Eagle!), enormous picnic area and
water sports available.

A spectacular walk (not even half an hour) along the sea to St. James is another possibility and you could return over the Main Road, where there are small museums you could visit, for example Rhodes Cottage and the Natal Labia Art Museum.

Muizenberg’s train station, which brings you not only to the centre of Cape Town, but a train trip in the direction of Simons' Town, along the beautiful coast line.

Step out in Kalk Bay with its charming antique shops, restaurants and/or Fish Hoek is another option.

And on Sundays; visit our popular flee market, only minutes walking distance away, near the beach.

Close to many tourist attractions such as Cape Point, the wine routes, Chapman's Peak and the penguin colony
in Simons' Town.

Front room en suite

The Sonstraal Main House has a special atmosphere, not only caused by its age, but also by the entrance and big dining room. This house is fully reserved for our guests and has 5 bedrooms en suite. Situated at the back is a covered terrace and a big braai area. Two minutes walk to the beach. (highest sea temperature at the Cape).

All the guests can use the big kitchen in the B&B house to prepare meals as well, so breakfast is optional in Sonstraal, because making your own breakfast in the communal kitchen is also a possibility.

A full breakfast is served on the terrace or in the dining room at the 12 seating yellow wood table. The dining room and lounge have beautiful views over the Sandvlei, the only working lagoon on the False Bay coast, and the mountains.
