As one of Cape Town's oldest and finest guest houses, The Underberg Guest House is nestled against the majestic backdrop of Table Mountain. Your home away from home!

The Underberg Guest House, originally a farm house was built in 1860, when the lower mountain slopes still supported game, leopard and lynx. Lord Baden Powel and Rudyard Kipling often used to ride and walk in this area. More recently it has been used as the production centre for the feature film "That English Woman"

Situated in trendy Tamboerskloof, we are just on the edge of the hustle and bustle for a good night sleep, but only a five minute walk to some great restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, boutiques and the ever popular Long and Kloof Street. The city centre is accessible by foot. Table Mountain, V & A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Gardens and the beautiful beaches of Camps Bay are a short
drive away.

The Underberg Guesthouse is owner run, and offers you a highly personalised experience. With our personal knowledge of the City, we can recommend and take care of all your daily requirements, be it beauty therapists, car hire, restaurants, theatre bookings, tours and
shopping malls.




There are two sitting rooms in which to relax, one large, and the other more intimate. To enjoy the outdoors, there are two verandahs. One to sit, enjoy a cocktail and marvel at the beauty of The Table Mountain , the other way one can enjoy the African sun and catch up on the suntan.

Breakfast is served in our gracious dining room. Enjoy a wholesome fresh fruit salad, fruit juice, selection of breads, homemade muesli, berry jam and and our famous marmalade. A full cooked English breakfast is freshly prepared to your liking.

Full office facilities are available to those who need to keep up with their business – Free WIFI, access to computer terminal, telephone printer and copier. For those who wish to escape into another world of books we have a well stocked library.

The nine en-suite bedrooms are well appointed and extremely comfortable – crisp fresh white linen and down duvets. Our high pressure showers are renowned as they massage all your travelling aches and pains away. The Underberg Guest House boast high ceilings spacious rooms, American shutters and overhead ceiling fans are reminiscent of the bygone days.
