Whale Rock Lodge is 3kms from the centre of Hermanus and a three minute walk to the New Harbour and the start of the cliff path from where the Southern Right whales and their calves can be seen between the months of July and December.
The Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore the area where one can find vast varieties of birdlife, large expanses of fynbos, magnificent beaches, championship golf courses and famous vineyards.
Water sports such as sea kyacking, scuba diving and fishing are readily available as is hiking and birding in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and along the 10 kms of cliff path. Fishing charters can be arranged in Walker Bay, and horse riding along the sands or in the neighbouring hills is a popular pastime. One of the most popular attractions is Great White shark cage diving at Dyers Island off the Gansbaai coastline.
