Capeblue Manor House is quietly tucked away in the shadows on the Steenberg mountain, in the pictuesque suburb of Muizenburg, with astounding ocean views, the cries of seagulls, the sands only a short walk away, it's almost too good to be true. A perfect place for a short and quiet getaway that's not too far away.
We arrived late on Friday and were warmly greeted by Michelle, the host of Capeblue Manor House, who immediately made us feel right at home. After introductions she showed us around this gorgeous establishment, a manor house built in 1927 that's now been completely restored. A stylish fusion of the old world and modern decor, beautifully framed art and photographs line the high walls, curious pieces of art on corridor tables circled by comfortable recliners. We even found an old o's and x's board and enjoyed a few games in the passageway. The thing that really stands out here is the time that's been put into absolutely everything!
After the tour Michelle took us upstairs where we had a choice of which bedroom we'd like to stay in for the weekend, and again not a single detail has been overlooked, all of the eight bedrooms are individually and uniquely decorated, modern, charming and stylish, but still with this warm, old-worldly charm, and let's be honest, who could say no to a giant four-poster bed adorned with a thousand pillows? Each room has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with modern shower-heads and sinks, warming racks for your towels and a vintage-esque clawfoot bathtub.
We were utterly exhausted but decided to venture into central Muizenberg, and find a restaurant against the waves. There's a myriad of selection for you to chose from, upmarket fisheries to gourmet bakeries to easy takeout. You'll find what you want. After some dinner, we settled into the magnificent four-poster bed, the dream bed.
Morning found us walking across the black and white checkerboard floor of the outdoor terrace towards the dining area. The terrace is a perfect spot to relax by the pool, read a good book or catch up on some swimming. In the tastefully decorated dining area we were welcomed by a continental buffet breakfast that had already been prepared for us to nibble on, followed by the option of an english breakfast. A hearty meal to start the day.
Muizenberg really is a splendour that should definitely be explored if you're staying at Capeblue Manor House, pleasant beach walks, cosy restaurants, curios, antique and vintage shops, ice-cream parlours on every street corner.
The charming Capeblue Manor House and its surrounding suburb make staying here such a treat.
Michelle was the perfect hostess, Capeblue Manor House was the perfect location, this was the perfect getaway, and we'd happily return.
