Roodenberg is a beautifully restored old house set in the leafy suburb of Rondebosch. The tastefully decorated interior combines the original historical features of the building with every modern comfort you could hope for. En-suite bathrooms with heated towel rails, individual satellite decoders, LCD televisions with DVD players, ADSL, hairdryers, air-conditioning, safes, and hypo-allergenic bedding are all standard in each of the 5 elegant bedrooms.
The result is a luxurious home-from-home with old world charm.
Evening meals can be arranged on request or you may choose to visit one of the many lovely restaurants either within walking distance or a short drive from the guest house. A wide range of drinks are served at the bar and guests can relax and unwind over a sundowner in a quiet corner of the guest lounge.
After a cosy night's rest I was treated to a sumptuous breakfast in the dining room, which opens out onto an enclosed garden with stunning views of the pool and mountain. A fresh fruit salad was followed by a superbly prepared full English breakfast and an assortment of tea, coffee and fruit juices were available.
Geoff and his staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. My only complaint is that I didn't stay nearly long enough to fully experience all that Roodenberg House has to offer.
