The City Bowl includes the Castle built by the Dutch in the mid 1600s, Parliament, numerous local museums, theatres, night-clubs and restaurants, the Company Gardens, the Cape Town International Convention Centre and is right next door to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

The Waterfront, which is a shopping district and attraction of note with its renovated buildings and aquarium, is also the launching spot for trips to Robben and Seal Islands. Robben Island in particular is worth visiting to see where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years.
